The Process
Before The Shoot
We will discuss the overall feel, use, and expectations for the final images. These details assist me in recommending a location(s) for the session. At this time we will select a date and time for the shoot, which will be confirmed one week prior to appointment via telephone. I am available to answer any final questions, reaffirm expectations, start time and location(s). Additionally, two weeks prior to appointment you will receive a "What To Expect" e-mail to assist in preparing for the session which includes recommendations for wardrobe, props, accessories, and other helpful tips to enhance your photography shoot experience.
During The Shoot
If we are shooting portraits in a studio, the initial "set" will be ready upon your arrival. However, if the session is at another predetermined location I will have scouted the day before to identify at least three sites for the shoot.
My number one priority is to ensure you have a great experience and enjoy the photo process. We will begin by taking a few test shots that we will review together on a computer. Not only does this give you an idea of what I'm seeing through the lens, but more importantly allows me to make final adjustments. I will then begin shooting with time allowed for wardrobe, prop, and location changes to provide a variety of images for selection. I enjoy working with clients who want to actively participate in the set-up, so please bring your ideas too!
After the Shoot
This is my favorite part of the process as I get my first chance to see the entire session on my monitor. I download and back-up images prior to starting the initial selection process. The initial selection is completed the same day as the shoot which allows me to view images and confirm they look like what I shot. I will select two images from this selection and upload so you can see them as my clients usually can't wait to see a photo!
Over the next two days, I will continue to review both rejected and selected images to ensure I haven't overlooked the "perfect" shot. You can expect within the first five days to receive a link to a secure location within my website to view the "unedited" images. Once you have an opportunity to view the images we may schedule a "proof session" at which time we will make final selections, as well as select package options and discuss pricing. I then edit and prepare photographs to the specifications required for the intended use.
